This chief came to the area that would become Kisumu in the nineteenth century, just before the arrival of British colonialism. In the late 1920s, the British created Odera Street. Odera Street was named after a man by the same name, Odera Akang?o.

This journey started way back in 2017 with Moi University through a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the County Government of Siaya to establish Odera Akang¢ as its constituent college. 4. The County Government of Siaya held several meetings in Nairobi, Maseno and Eldoret with both Maseno and Moi Universities which gladly led to the signing of another Memorandum of Understanding.

It is located in Eldoret town and was established after the University of Nairobi. This university was established in early 1984 by the act of parliament. Currently the university has expanded and has started campuses in various regions of Kenya. One of these campuses is Odera Okango Campus in Yala. Odera Okango Campus of Moi University was founded.

06/02/2020 ÿú Plans to re-open the Yala town-based Odera Akang?o university campus are at advanced stage, cabinet secretary for education, professor George Magoha has said. Prof. Magoha said that as part of the process, talks have been going on between the managements of Moi and Maseno universities to have the campus that previously operated as a branch of the former, change hands to the later.
